Picnic Rescheduled

Since our Giggle Hill event was cancelled we will have an end of year potluck and play date at Kalama Park on Tuesday, June 14th from 10-12. All virtual students grades K-8 and families are invited. Spread the word.

 

This is NOT a drop off event. Parents are responsible for their children.

Portfolios, Report Cards and Picnic!

Porfolios -

I am working on reviewing portfolios this week. I am very impressed with the quality of work I have recieved. You should all be very proud. When I have completed all portfolios, they will be available for pick up at the Lipoa front desk. I will send an email letting you know they are available.

 

Report Cards -

Final report cards will be mailed home by our registrar after June 10. Please remember that we are taking final OLS % on June 7. If you have any lessons to be marked complete, please do so as soon as possible.

 

Giggle Hill-

Our final event will be a Potluck at Giggle Hill Park in Haiku on Tuesday, June 7th from 10-12. All students and families in grades K-8 are invited to attend. Please bring drinks for your family and a potluck dish to share.



Final Week K-4

This week all students in grades K-4 will report to St. Theresa's on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 12. There will be NO afternoon class. On Tuesday we will rehearse for our exhibition and will play math games made by the 5th and 6th grade students. Please be sure to pack your child a lunch.

 

On Thursday, we will have our exhibitions from 9-12, and will be serving pizza for students and families. Please bring drinks for your family and feel free to bring a side salad, fruit, vegtable or a dessert to share.

 



End of the Year Events!!!

8th Grade Banquet- All KCS 8th graders will be recognized as part of our 8th grade banquet celebration, on Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at 5:30-6:30pm in the High School Auditorium.  This celebration will be free for 8th grade students, $10 for adults and $5 children.  This will be a night to remember with dinner being served and student recognition throughout the night as they continue onto their educational journey.  Guests of students must be immediate family members only, please.  RSVP by 5/31/11 at the Middle Front desk at the same time that you make your banquet payment.    End of the Year Dance- An end of the school year dance is planned immediately proceeding the 8th grade banquet for all KCS students grades 6-8 only, on Friday June 3, 2011 from 7-9pm.  This is a neon themed dance.  Students are encouraged to wear neon colors and items that glow, yet must abide by KCS dress code standards.  Tickets cost $2 can only be purchased at the KCS Middle School front desk. Tickets will not be sold at the door.  Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase the evening of the event.  Doors close at 7:30 sharp and no re-entry is allowed.  Parent pick up will be required if students wish to leave early from the dance.



End of the Year Information

We are in the home stretch now! Only a few more weeks of school left and as we are winding down, I have some important information to share with you.

 

End of year portfolios

 - You will find the rubric under my Files I will be using to grade the portfolios. Please look it over to be sure your portfolio includes all the major components. You need at least 3 samples from each subject and reflections for the major subjects - listed on the rubric. There are also questions listed on the rubric for you to reflect on.

- You should be adding to your semester 1 portfolio. Please leave all the work from the beginning of the year in the binder.

-Personalize your portfolio to make it your own.

-Due by May 23.

 

End of year picnic

-June 7 will be the annual Giggle Hill picnic in Haiku. More details to come.

3rd-5th Grade - Virtual Students

Enrichment
-Our final enrichment will be May 13. We will be completing the forensic science experiment planned for last month when school was cancelled due to the tsunami.

 

6th-8th Grade

Quarter 4 Project/Enrichment - Virtual Students

-If you are working on an independent project, in lieu of the Paia project, those will be due May 16.

- We will meet May 16 for our final enrichment. We will meet from 11:30-1:30 at St. T's.  We will be taking some end of the year assessments and talking about our portfolios. If time allows we will complete a science activity.
